Stellantis has just announced the launch of an online compensation platform dedicated to assessing compensation claims from European customers who incurred repair costs with previous generations of PureTech 1.0 and 1.2 engines, due to excessive oil consumption and/or premature degradation of the timing belt.
In a statement, Stellantis clarifies that “this complementary compensation policy will cover expenses incurred between January 1, 2022, and December 31, 2024, following certain maintenance and diagnostic conditions recommended by the Brands: Citroën, DS Automobiles, Opel/Vauxhall, and Peugeot”.
The compensation conditions imply that services related to excessive oil consumption and/or premature degradation of the timing belt “must have complied with the manufacturer’s maintenance plan and been carried out by automotive professionals, while the diagnosis and repair must have been conducted through the authorized network”, Stellantis adds.
In addition, the company has extended the warranty for previous generations of PureTech engines, covering 100% of costs for up to 10 years or 180,000 kilometers for parts and labor, under certain conditions. “These extraordinary warranty measures also include the implementation of the new ‘Check+’ certificate, which attests to the reliability of used vehicles that have followed the recommended maintenance and repairs, with 100 inspection points, including the timing belt, for used cars sold by Spoticar and the official network”, concludes Stellantis.
