Stellantis presented a complete range of compact, medium, and large commercial vans, renovated and electrified, on Monday, October 23, as part of the Pro One strategic offensive of the commercial vehicles business unit of the automotive group.
With over ten million units sold worldwide, the range of light commercial vehicles from the Citroën, Peugeot, Fiat Professional, and Opel/Vauxhall brands now receives a renovation based on a strategy focused on zero-emission models, customer experience, and connected services.
Stellantis says its brands are taking advantage of a complete range of advanced electrified propulsion technologies, safety, ADAS (advanced driver-assistance systems), and connectivity to provide a worry-free environment for drivers, ensuring a reliable business partner for commercial owners.
The renewed range of commercial vehicles, including the new Citroën Berlingo, Jumpy, Jumper; Fiat Doblò, Scudo, Ducato; Opel/Vauxhall Combo, Vivaro, Movano; as well as the Peugeot Partner, bring with them the second generation of zero-emission technologies, including Stellantis EV battery systems, which promise greater autonomy without compromising capacity. In addition, the new Ram ProMaster EV, a large-sized van with 100% electric propulsion, will be unveiled by the end of the year.
The second generation of battery electric vehicles (BEV) propulsion provides compact vans with a range of up to 330 kilometers, which Stellantis claims is the best in its class. In medium-sized vans, the battery packs offer 50 or 75 kilowatt-hours (kWh) of energy and up to 350 km of range, while in the large van segment, a 110 kWh battery provides a range of up to 420 km.
In addition, Stellantis announced that fast charging at 150 kW allows the battery to be charged from 0 to 80% in less than an hour.
The automotive group also announced that it will launch a second generation of medium-sized vans powered by hydrogen fuel cells in mid-2024, promising a record range in the segment of up to 400 km. Hydrogen fuel cell propulsion will also be extended to large vans in 2024, with medium-power architecture, a maximum range of 500 km, and a recharge time of five minutes.
Other technologies that will be part of the new commercial vehicles from Stellantis are a regenerative braking system, activated through paddles on the steering wheel, taking into account the weight of the vehicle and the road profile to maximize energy recovery; A heat pump in compact BEV vans to optimize energy usage in cold and winter conditions, maximizing vehicle range.
In addition, all new commercial vehicles are equipped with LED headlights, will feature redesigned interiors, a new 10-inch infotainment system, 18 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) up to Level 2 Autonomous Driving, as well as 100% connectivity as standard, innovative e-PTO solution (electric Power Take off / auxiliary battery power), which allows the use of the traction battery for systems in converted vehicles, and over-the-air updates from 2026.
“This second generation of zero-emission vans, in line with customer expectations and offering greater BEV range, as well as an additional proposal with fuel cells, 18 ADAS, total connectivity, and innovations like the ‘electric power take off’, will further strengthen our current leadership among BEV vans and in all van segments”, said Xavier Peugeot, Senior Vice President, Stellantis Commercial Vehicles Business Unit, during the presentation of the new range of commercial vans.
