Qinomic announced this Friday the launch of its system for converting light commercial vehicles with combustion engines into electric vehicles, in collaboration with Stellantis Pro One.

The project, which began about two and a half years ago and was developed in collaboration with SUSTAINera, Stellantis’ circular economy business unit, is now being realized with the launch of this new technology that will allow owners of light commercial vehicles with combustion engines to convert them to electric power instead of purchasing new vehicles, offering significant advantages in terms of management costs, reduction of environmental impact, and mobility freedom.

The new technology will initially be available in France for medium-sized light commercial vehicles from Stellantis Pro One: Fiat Professional Scudo, Opel Vivaro, Peugeot Expert, and Citroën Jumpy.

As part of the collaboration, Qinomic will directly purchase the original components necessary for the conversion (over 200, mainly related to the battery and electric motor) from Stellantis, while Stellantis will recover the thermal components mainly related to the engine, transmission, fuel tank, and exhaust system.

These components, depending on their condition and mileage, will be placed in the virtuous circle of SUSTAINera’s activities and will be intended for new use or refurbishment.

By offering this new technical solution, which ensures the quality of the original manufacturer and meets specific requirements such as safety, durability, and certification, it promotes the transition to zero CO2 emissions mobility while extending the lifespan of vehicles, giving owners the opportunity to continue using them for a longer time.

This is another step by Stellantis towards its decarbonization strategy, supporting the vision of safeguarding mobility freedom through the provision of safe, sustainable solutions in collaboration with its partners.
