This year, the Formula 1 season will have a record number of 24 Grand Prix races. While from a commercial and promotional point of view it is an appealing scenario, offering action in almost half of the calendar year, the same cannot be said for those who work in the paddock – as the workload becomes increasingly heavy on the organization, teams, and drivers.
The interest in hosting rounds of the premier category continues to grow, with speculation that F1 is trying to have 25 Grand Prix races in 2026 – addressing this calendar dimension in the new Concorde Agreement. However, there seem to be no plans for that.
At least, judging by the words of the CEO and President of F1. Stefano Domenicali told Canal+ that 24 rounds is the right number, although he believes it would be feasible to have one more:
‘Just think that in certain years we had trouble organizing 17 Grand Prix races – and today we are doing 24! I think 24 is the right number, considering the interest that Formula 1 has on a global level. But technically we could have 25. However, I think 24 is the right number’.
