SPS Racing abruptly cancels NASCAR O’Reilly team acquisition: shocking twist for AM Racing’s future

BREAKING: SPS Racing Pulls the Plug on Ambitious NASCAR Acquisition! What This Means for AM Racing!

In a shocking turn of events, Sigma Performance Services (SPS Racing) has officially terminated its plans to acquire AM Racing’s NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series program, a deal that was poised to reshape the racing landscape for the 2026 season. Announced just last November, the acquisition has now been scrapped, leaving fans and insiders buzzing with speculation about the future of the team.

AM Racing, which has been an active player with its ARCA Menard’s Series operation and a fleet of late model cars, issued a statement confirming the abrupt end of negotiations. “While the transaction ultimately was not finalized, AM Racing will move forward independently and remain committed to competition in the NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series,” the organization declared, emphasizing their determination to build on their existing foundation for the upcoming season. The announcement also hinted that more news regarding drivers and team updates would be forthcoming, igniting excitement among fans eager for a glimpse of the future.

Just two weeks prior to this dramatic development, AM Racing showcased a freshly wrapped pit box adorned with the colors and logos of SPS Racing, a sign that the partnership was on track—until it wasn’t. In a statement on their team website, SPS Racing lamented the termination of their planned participation in the NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series, effective January 28, 2026. However, they pledged to support AM Racing in ensuring a seamless transition for this competitive program.

Team owner Joe Farré voiced his pride in the collaborative effort that went into forming this ambitious partnership. “We are proud of the work that we did in assembling an incredible team of people, resources, and technical partners,” he stated, reinforcing their commitment to integrity and quality in racing. Farré expressed confidence in AM Racing’s leadership to take the reins and deliver the results that both the team and its partners deserve.

Last season, AM Racing finished 13th in the owner’s championship and made a notable appearance in the driver’s playoffs with Harrison Burton behind the wheel. However, with Burton having moved on to another team, the question now looms large: who will take the helm of AM Racing’s Ford Mustang in 2026? As part of the owner points transfers for the upcoming season, the No. 25 AM Racing Ford shifted its points to the No. 76, preparing for what was supposed to be the SPS Racing takeover.

As this story unfolds, the racing community is left to ponder the implications of this unexpected decision. With AM Racing forging ahead on its own, fans are eager to see how this independent path will play out on the track. Will they rise to new heights, or will this abrupt change hinder their progress? One thing is for sure—the NASCAR world will be closely watching as the dust settles on this high-stakes drama!
