Spire parting ways with LaJoie after this season.

Corey LaJoie will no longer be behind the wheel of the No. 7 Chevrolet for Spire Motorsports in the upcoming NASCAR Cup Series season. The team informed LaJoie of their decision on Wednesday, and the news was first reported by The Athletic on Thursday.

LaJoie, an experienced driver in the Cup Series for eight years, has been with Spire Motorsports since 2021. He had signed a two-year contract extension with the team last season. Despite his contributions to building Spire into a respected team on the grid, LaJoie expressed disappointment that he will not be a part of the team’s future. However, he remains committed to finishing the remainder of the 2024 season strongly and delivering results for his partners, hardworking team members, and loyal supporters.

During his time with Spire Motorsports, LaJoie achieved six top-10 finishes and four top-five finishes in the No. 7 Chevrolet. Last season, he reached a career-best 25th position in the championship standings. The team’s recent announcement of hiring Rodney Childers for next season initially indicated that LaJoie would continue as the driver of the car. However, it is currently unknown who will take his place in the upcoming season.

Looking ahead to 2025, Spire Motorsports plans to field three full-time entries. Carson Hocevar will drive the No. 77 Chevrolet, while Michael McDowell will join the organization to pilot the No. 71 Chevrolet. Despite LaJoie’s impending departure, Spire Motorsports has not provided any comment on the matter.
