The possibility of Smart bringing back the electric city car ForFour seems to have been put on hold, as the brand does not confirm that it is preparing a successor for the well-known electric model.
The European CEO of Smart, Dirk Adelmann, announced in an interview with the British “AutoCar” that the brand was “studying the feasibility of bringing back the ForFour.”
Now, the German press reports that Adelmann’s idea is unlikely to move forward, having even been denied by the brand. “We are pleased with the interest in Smart and our products, but recent news about a successor to the Smart ForFour, known as #4, is false. Currently, there are no plans to develop such a model,” a statement sent to the press reveals.
The European CEO of the brand admitted to the British publication that the successor to the ForFour will complete a complete overhaul of the brand’s model lineup, which includes the launch of the successor to the ForTwo next year, as well as extensive updates to the #1 and #3 models.
