Smart will expand its range with the arrival of the large #5, the largest model of the 100% electric brand family, which is expected to be presented in China on August 28.
According to “CarNewsChina”, the new Smart measures 4.70 meters in length, a wheelbase of just under 3 meters, and an exterior design with square and sharp lines.
According to the same source, the new Smart #5 will be equipped with a set of batteries with a capacity of at least 100 kWh, with 800-volt architecture, to ensure a range of up to 550 km (WLTP) on a single charge.
According to the Chinese press, the new Smart model will have two versions, one equipped with only one motor with 340 hp and another with two electric motors, one per axle, with 363 hp of power.
It is worth mentioning that Smart presented at the last edition of the Beijing Auto Show, the concept of the #5 (in the image), which featured off-road details, with a robust overall appearance, roof-mounted lights, front and rear protection plates, the latter with an incorporated winch, and a foldable rear step for easy access to the roof, announcing that the presentation of the new model was scheduled for the second semester.
