The smart #3 will be launched in Portugal in March 2024, with prices starting at €42,950. Designed by the global design team of Mercedes-Benz, and with cutting-edge connectivity as a guiding principle, the new SUV coupe will only be available with electric motors, with maximum power ranging from 272 hp, offered in the four rear-wheel drive versions, to the announced 428 hp for the top-of-the-line BRABUS variant, which is the only one with two motors, one on each axle, and all-wheel drive.
“The smart #3 is the new model that complements the new range of smart products, following the launch of the smart #1. We are confident that the #3 will mark this new era of smart in a positive way, not only for its design, but also for its performance in driving,” says Bernardo Villa, CEO of smart Portugal.
With a length of 4.44 m, the #3 is 13 cm longer than the #1, and the wheelbase has also been extended to 2.78 m, resulting in generous interior space, especially in terms of legroom for rear passengers. The #3’s trunk is also larger (385 liters compared to 288 liters).
State-of-the-art software
Fully electric and connected, smart relies on the modern software of the #3 as an intelligent companion in everyday life, supporting the driver with an intuitive driving ecosystem. This includes various systems as part of the smart pilot assist, such as the highway assistant (HWA) and the automatic parking assistant (APA). The smart #3 also features Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connections, which allow drivers to bring smartphone functionality and applications to the central screen. To ensure that the system is always up to date, smart implements what is called constructive feedback, and is capable of developing features quickly and publishing over-the-air (OTA) updates at short intervals, which can be implemented directly by the user without a visit to the service center.
