Skoda has announced that it has begun production of the new fully electric compact SUV, Elroq, at its factory in Mladá Boleslav, Czech Republic, where the Enyaq and Octavia are also produced.
“The launch of production of the new compact SUV Elroq at our main factory is a great achievement for the entire team. Sharing the assembly line with its electric sibling, the Enyaq, along with the production of battery systems for the MEB platform, creates significant synergies in production and cost efficiency, which ultimately benefits our customers. By producing this key model at our main factory, we are reaffirming the crucial strategic role of the Mladá Boleslav production unit as the heart of our brand.”, said Andreas Dick, member of the production and logistics board of Skoda Auto.
It is worth noting that the Elroq is a compact vehicle measuring around 4.50 meters in length and features a front that stands out with the new design language that Skoda calls Modern Solid.
Based on the VW Group’s MEB platform for electric vehicles, the Elroq is offered at launch in three versions, with the entry-level variant 50 featuring a 55 kWh battery and a rear-mounted motor producing 168 hp, allowing for a range of up to 370 km. The version 60 is equipped with a 63 kWh battery and offers 204 hp, announcing a range of up to 400 km.
Finally, the top-of-the-line version is the Elroq 85, which features a significantly larger 82 kWh battery and 286 hp of power, promising a range of up to 560 km. An Elroq 85x version is planned for later, with two electric motors and all-wheel drive.
Charging times and technology vary by model, but the Elroq supports DC fast charging at 145 kW, 165 kW, and 175 kW. The latter allows the 82 kWh battery to be charged from 10% to 80% in just 28 minutes.
