Skoda Auto is transforming internal logistics processes into a standardized system at the Volkswagen Group level, aiming to consistently use digitalization and centralization to leverage cost reduction potential and increase flexibility in production and logistics.
The project called ONE Log is, according to the Czech brand, the biggest system change at the Vrchlabí factory in the last 25 years and aims to create greater efficiency through harmonization at the ONE Log Group level, simplifying logistics processes within the Volkswagen Group brands.
The merging of existing subprocesses into a standardized and state-of-the-art SAP solution allows, according to Skoda, to “reduce the number of logistics IT interfaces, also increasing data availability. The expected results include higher flexibility and, consequently, higher production efficiency, significant cost savings, as well as consistent and transparent data.”
“So far, we have been launching and using a wide range of applications developed over time in response to operational and interconnected needs. This has resulted in a large number of systems and interfaces, not only within our company. Such an ecosystem is highly complex and, consequently, difficult to maintain. With the implementation of ONE Log, we now have a standardized and normalized system that provides a solid foundation for our logistics management, saving costs and increasing flexibility and efficiency throughout the logistics chain,” emphasized David Strnad, Logistics Director of Skoda Auto.
