Skip Barber Racing School Joins Inaugural McLaren Trophy America Series for 2025

The Skip Barber Racing School, a cornerstone of American motorsport education, has officially announced its entry into the McLaren Trophy America Series for the 2025 season. The school will field multiple McLaren Trophy EVO cars, marking a significant expansion of its racing program.

This new series brings the successful McLaren Trophy EVO platform, already a hit in Europe, to the United States. The inaugural season will kick off in March 2025 at Sonoma Raceway and will follow the SRO America calendar, with races at iconic tracks including Circuit of The Americas, Virginia International Raceway (VIR), Road America, and Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

A New Chapter for Skip Barber Racing

For Skip Barber Racing, this entry is about more than just competition. According to team manager Joe Monitto, the McLaren Trophy EVO program aligns perfectly with the school’s mission of developing top-tier driving talent.

“This new program is important for us for two key reasons,” Monitto explained. “First, it provides our clients with another excellent option for where they wish to compete, as the McLaren Trophy EVO is an especially attractive platform. In addition to that, the Skip Barber Racing School has been working with McLaren to provide training to drivers seeking to compete in the series. This raises the driving standards, and with it, the quality of the competition in the series.”

Strengthening Ties with McLaren

The Skip Barber Racing School has long been synonymous with developing motorsport talent, many of whom have gone on to race professionally. Partnering with McLaren further solidifies its reputation as a gateway for aspiring racers.

Darioush Gheissari, McLaren Automotive’s Manager of One-Make Racing, expressed enthusiasm for the partnership:

“To have such a legendary name in American motorsport join the McLaren family, especially as some of its alumni have gone on to race for McLaren, is a testament to our way of racing. We look forward to seeing how they get on when we hit the track for the first race of the year at Sonoma in March.”

Expanding Skip Barber’s Horizons

The addition of the McLaren Trophy EVO program complements Skip Barber’s existing lineup of arrive-and-drive programs in Touring Car, GT4, and other one-make series. It also adds a unique layer to its development pathway, offering a versatile arc for drivers looking to ascend the motorsport ladder.

Dan DeMonte, Skip Barber Racing School’s Chief Marketing Officer, emphasized the broader benefits of this move:

“Anytime we can welcome a prestigious brand such as McLaren into the Skip Barber Racing School family is a tremendous testament to our range of abilities. With the expansion of our championship-winning race team comes increased visibility and opportunities for our consumer-facing schools, the Skip Barber Race Series, and our wide range of offerings in the corporate event space.”

The 2025 McLaren Trophy America Schedule:

  • March: Sonoma Raceway
  • April: Circuit of The Americas
  • May: Virginia International Raceway (VIR)
  • July: Road America
  • September: Indianapolis Motor Speedway

A Bright Future for American Motorsports

With the inclusion of Skip Barber Racing, the McLaren Trophy America Series promises to deliver high-quality competition and bring a fresh dimension to U.S. motorsport. Fans and drivers alike eagerly anticipate the debut at Sonoma Raceway in March 2025, setting the stage for a thrilling season of innovation and racing excellence.
