F1 Singapore Grand Prix starting grid after the penalties applied

The FIA has officially confirmed the starting grid for the 2024 Singapore Grand Prix, setting the stage for a high-stakes battle under the lights at the Marina Bay Street Circuit. Lando Norris delivered a stunning lap to outpace his championship rival Max Verstappen, securing pole position as the pair prepare to go head-to-head from the front row.

Top Contenders: Norris, Verstappen, and Hamilton Lead the Charge

Norris, who clocked a rapid 1:29.525, will lead the field off the line with Verstappen starting alongside him, just 0.203 seconds adrift. Meanwhile, Lewis Hamilton pulled off an impressive turnaround for Mercedes, claiming third on the grid despite earlier concerns about even making it into Q3. His teammate George Russell wasn’t far behind, securing P4 and highlighting Mercedes’ strong pace recovery.

Mixed Fortunes for Red Bull and Ferrari

Red Bull’s Sergio Perez continued his rough patch, failing to make it past Q2 and ending up in a disappointing P13. Daniel Ricciardo’s struggles also persisted, with the Australian eliminated in Q1 and lining up 16th on the grid. In stark contrast, Ricciardo’s teammate Yuki Tsunoda impressed with a solid P8 finish, showcasing the potential of the VCARB team.

Ferrari endured a disastrous qualifying as both Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz failed to set a time in Q3 due to separate issues, leaving them to start from P9 and P10 respectively. The Scuderia will have their work cut out for them as they try to fight back on Sunday.
