A heart-stopping crash rocked the Imola F1 qualifying session as Yuki Tsunoda’s Red Bull car went flying into the barriers, causing chaos and bringing the session to a dramatic halt. The young driver lost control of his car, sending it spinning backwards into the tyre barrier with such force that it catapulted onto the barrier and rolled before finally coming to a stop in the gravel.
Despite the terrifying crash, Tsunoda emerged from the wreckage seemingly unscathed but was still taken to the medical center for a precautionary check-up. The extent of the damage to his car was severe, leaving Red Bull with a massive rebuild job ahead of the Grand Prix.
The session was immediately red-flagged as the debris was cleared, with only a handful of drivers managing to set a lap time before the incident. Alex Albon was the quickest among them, showcasing his skills on the challenging Imola circuit.
This setback comes as Tsunoda’s first major obstacle since joining the senior team, following a promising performance in Friday’s practice sessions. Despite showing competitiveness and being within a tenth of his teammate Max Verstappen, Tsunoda struggled to find his pace in the final practice session, leaving him in a challenging position going into qualifying.
The high-speed crash has not only left fans in shock but has also raised concerns about the safety of the drivers on the demanding Imola track. As the F1 world holds its breath, all eyes are now on Red Bull as they work tirelessly to get Tsunoda back on track for the race.
