Alpine F1 Team Not for Sale: Oliver Oakes Shuts Down Rumors Amid Team’s Resurgence

Shocking Turn of Events: Former Alpine Boss Spotted in Imola Paddock Supporting Hitech GP

In a jaw-dropping twist of fate, the former Alpine boss has been sighted in the F2 and F3 paddock, extending support to Hitech GP following his brother William’s arrest. Oliver Oakes, the ex-team principal, resigned shortly after the Miami GP and was rumored to have traveled to Dubai to address personal issues regarding the ownership of the team currently competing in the junior series supporting F1. However, as reported by the Dutch newspaper Formule 1, the troubles surrounding the English team did not stop Oakes from making an appearance in the paddock during the Imola weekend.

Oliver Oakes is reportedly present during the Emilia-Romagna GP weekend to back his team. With no role in Alpine anymore, the 37-year-old manager and former driver has not been spotted in the Formula 1 paddock but in the support categories, namely Formula 2, Formula 3, and the Porsche SuperCup this weekend. Oakes is dutifully at his post despite the challenges that Hitech is allegedly facing, especially after the arrest of his brother William last week.

The shadow of Mazepin looms over Hitech GP, a story that grabbed headlines last week thanks to the British newspaper The Telegraph. William Oakes was reportedly arrested by the English police after being found leaving the team’s headquarters with a significant amount of cash. This situation seemed to intertwine closely with the name of the former team owner Dmitry Mazepin, father of ex-Formula 1 driver Nikita. Mazepin had effectively transferred all his shares to the Oakes following the Russian army’s invasion of Ukraine in February 2022 and the subsequent economic sanctions by Western countries against oligarchs closely associated with Russian President Vladimir Putin’s regime.

Don’t miss out on this unfolding drama in the world of motorsports as alliances shift and scandals rock the paddocks of Imola.
