Yuki Tsunoda Left in the Dark by Red Bull’s Marko Amid F1 Promotion Drama
Yuki Tsunoda, the rising star in Formula 1, has found himself in the midst of a whirlwind of uncertainty as he navigates through the unexpected twists and turns of his Red Bull promotion without the guidance of his mentor, Helmut Marko.
Following a dramatic decision by Red Bull to swap Tsunoda with Liam Lawson after a series of challenging races for the New Zealander, Tsunoda was thrust into the spotlight for the Japanese Grand Prix. However, amidst the chaos, Tsunoda revealed that he has yet to hear from Marko, Red Bull’s driver advisor, which he described as “very unusual.”
Despite being informed by team principal Christian Horner about a potential change in his future shortly after the Chinese Grand Prix, Tsunoda expressed his surprise at the lack of communication from Marko. Reflecting on their past interactions, Tsunoda stated, “From F3 to F1, he was always calling me, but this time he didn’t call me. So, I’m sure there’s not anything from his side.”
As Tsunoda adjusts to his new role within the Red Bull team, he shared that he received encouraging messages from former Red Bull drivers Sergio Perez and Pierre Gasly. Despite the mounting pressure to deliver a strong performance at his home Grand Prix in a car he has yet to drive competitively, Tsunoda remains composed, stating, “I’m really relaxing somehow… I don’t necessarily feel pressure so far.”
The Japanese driver’s journey to the Red Bull seat has been met with unexpected challenges and uncertainties, but Tsunoda remains focused on the task at hand as he prepares to make his mark in Formula 1.
With the Japanese Grand Prix on the horizon, all eyes will be on Tsunoda as he steps into this new chapter of his racing career, determined to prove his worth on the track.
