Unleashing Fury: Liam Lawson Faces Wrath of Guenther Steiner for Red Bull Demotion

The motorsport world is ablaze with controversy as Guenther Steiner, known for his no-nonsense approach, directs scathing criticism towards Liam Lawson for his lackluster performance leading to his demotion from Red Bull. Liam Lawson, once a hopeful talent, now finds himself ousted from the prestigious team after a disappointing display in the 2025 season, failing to secure any remarkable results in two consecutive race weekends.

Steiner, unapologetically, points out that Lawson’s inability to match teammate Max Verstappen’s pace was a significant factor in his downfall. The Italian-American team principal did not mince his words, declaring, “I think it’s a Lawson problem. If you’re half a second slower than your teammate, you’re already a lot slower.” With a performance gap of over a second behind Verstappen during his brief stint with Red Bull, Lawson’s fate was sealed.

The decision to demote Lawson to Red Bull’s junior team, VCARB, was not unforeseen, given the swirling rumors surrounding his underwhelming performances. In contrast, Yuki Tsunoda’s consistent displays and undeniable talent earned him the coveted seat alongside Verstappen at the Japanese Grand Prix, leaving Lawson in the shadows of missed opportunities.

Steiner attributes Lawson’s struggles to the immense pressure of competing at the highest level of motorsport, particularly alongside a reigning world champion like Verstappen. The 23-year-old New Zealander’s inability to handle the challenges posed by Red Bull’s RB21 chassis, coupled with self-imposed pressure to excel, ultimately led to his premature exit from the team.

Despite Steiner’s acknowledgment of Lawson’s past successes with Red Bull, the Kiwi’s transition to the main team proved insurmountable. The expectation for Lawson to deliver improved performances alongside rookie Isack Hadjar is now paramount, with Steiner emphasizing the need for a significant turnaround in his racing capabilities.

As Lawson’s Red Bull journey comes to an abrupt halt, the spotlight shifts to Yuki Tsunoda, who now shoulders the weight of expectations in the face of a highly inconsistent RB21 challenger. Tsunoda’s challenge lies in replicating Lawson’s fate, should he fail to deliver standout performances from the outset.

The motorsport community eagerly awaits the unfolding drama as Tsunoda steps into the spotlight, while Lawson’s future in the realm of elite racing remains uncertain. Stay tuned for more updates on this gripping saga as the racing season unfolds.
