Carson Hocevar Raises Concerns Over Spire Motorsports’ Recent Shake-Up

The motorsports world is abuzz with the sudden departure of Rodney Childers from Spire Motorsports, leaving many questioning the stability of the No. 7 team. The seasoned crew chief, a 2014 championship winner, was expected to lead the team to success in the 2025 season. However, after just nine races, Childers made a shocking exit, citing personal reasons for his decision to step away from the fast-paced world of motorsport.

In the midst of uncertainty, Carson Hocevar, the No. 77 driver at Spire Motorsports, has spoken out about the situation, expressing his concerns about how the team is perceived externally. While acknowledging that the events surrounding Childers’ departure were part of a strategic decision, Hocevar admitted that the optics were less than favorable for the team as a whole. Despite the upheaval, Hocevar remains confident in the team’s leadership and game plan moving forward.

The underwhelming performance of Justin Haley, currently ranked P23 in the championship standings with lackluster finishes outside the top 20, was a significant factor in Childers’ exit. With Haley now paired up with new crew chief Ryan Sparks, the team is hoping for a turnaround in their performance for the remainder of the season.

As co-owner Jeff Dickerson navigates the team through these personnel changes, Hocevar stands by the leadership’s decisions, expressing his unwavering faith in the team’s long-term goals. Emphasizing the need for aggressive changes to propel Spire Motorsports to success, Hocevar believes that the recent shake-up is a step in the right direction for the team’s future performance.

With Spire Motorsports showing steady improvement in the 2025 season, all eyes are on the team as they gear up for the challenges ahead. As the racing world eagerly anticipates how Haley will fare with his new crew chief at the upcoming Talladega race, one thing is certain – Spire Motorsports is in for a season of twists and turns as they strive for greatness on the track.
