In a shocking turn of events, Red Bull’s Christian Horner has made a bold statement regarding the demotion of Liam Lawson from the team, stating that “sometimes you’ve got to be cruel to be kind.” This decision came after Lawson’s underwhelming performance in the first two Grand Prix weekends of the 2025 season, where he failed to meet the team’s expectations.

During a showrun event in Tokyo, Horner opened up about the tough call to move Lawson to Racing Bulls, Red Bull’s sister team. He explained that while it’s never easy to crush someone’s dreams, it was necessary for Lawson’s development as a driver. Horner emphasized that this setback is not the end for Lawson and that he still has the potential to shine in the future.
