After a disastrous 2024 NASCAR season, Kyle Busch is looking to bounce back. But will that comeback include a long-awaited Supercars debut in Australia? According to Shane van Gisbergen, the two-time NASCAR Cup Series champion needs to make it happen.
SVG, a three-time Supercars champion turned full-time NASCAR driver, is pushing to bring American stars like Busch and Kyle Larson into his home series. Busch was originally set to race the Adelaide 500 in 2024 but pulled out due to his commitments in the U.S. Now, SVG hopes to convince both him and Larson to make the leap in 2025.
SVG’s Take: “Kyle Busch Would Have Done Really Well”
Van Gisbergen has made a massive impact in NASCAR, proving that Supercars talent translates to stock car success. But he still has a deep love for Australian Supercars, and he wants to see top-tier NASCAR drivers give it a shot.
Speaking on a possible Busch appearance in 2025, SVG said:
“I would have loved to see how Kyle Busch went last year in the Supercar. It would have been very difficult, but I’m sure if he took it seriously he would have done really well. Hopefully, that happens this year.”
Busch, despite struggling in NASCAR’s Next Gen car last season, has been keeping his skills sharp in dirt racing. He and his son, Brexton Busch, dominated the Tulsa Shootout, with Busch also making his Chili Bowl Nationals debut, finishing a respectable 15th place.
With his versatile racing background, Busch could adapt well to Supercars, much like how SVG transitioned into NASCAR’s road courses with ease. But will he actually commit to racing Down Under?
Kyle Larson Also in the Mix?
SVG isn’t just looking at Busch—he’s also eyeing 2021 Cup Series champion Kyle Larson, a driver who has proven to be one of the most adaptable racers in the world.
Van Gisbergen hinted at a potential Supercars appearance for Larson, saying:
“There’s talks actually Kyle Larson might go and do it. Yeah, I’d love to help them if they have any questions. I’d be really interested to see how they went.”
Larson, who dominated dirt racing in the offseason, recently won $100,000 at the Perth Motorplex in Australia under his High Limit Racing series. Given his incredible versatility, Larson in a Supercar seems like a perfect match.
Why Busch & Larson Racing Supercars Would Be HUGE
Supercars have become one of the most competitive touring car series in the world, and SVG has proven its drivers are world-class talents. If Busch and Larson step in, it would:
✅ Boost Supercars’ global appeal, especially in the U.S.
✅ Test how NASCAR’s best stack up against Aussie talent.
✅ Give Larson & Busch another major motorsports challenge.
✅ Potentially pave the way for more NASCAR/Supercars crossovers.
SVG has already made Supercars vs. NASCAR a hot topic, and now he’s trying to bring the two biggest American racing stars into the mix.
Will Busch & Larson Accept SVG’s Invitation?
Busch pulled out of the 2024 Adelaide 500, but with a fresh start in 2025, could he finally make it happen? Meanwhile, Larson’s aggressive schedule always makes new challenges exciting for him.
If either one of them takes SVG’s offer, it would be a massive moment for motorsports fans across both hemispheres.
