Shane van Gisbergen is looking to make the transition to full-time Cup Series racing next year. The talented driver made the move to the main stock car racing scene in the Americas this season, with full support from his family. However, he has faced difficulties in the recent races and has been feeling demotivated. Speculations were circulating and eventually he shared the sad news of his mother’s passing.

Thanks to his remarkable victory at the Chicago Street Circuit, Shane van Gisbergen gained recognition as an outstanding Supercar driver in the NASCAR world. His extraordinary performance earned him praise from fellow drivers and filled his parents with pride. During a race in the Xfinity Series, his car displayed his mother’s surname, Wallace, on the No.97 door, which he later explained as a deeply emotional tribute.

These past weeks have been incredibly challenging for the 34-year-old driver as he mourns the loss of his mother in his native country, New Zealand. He expressed his gratitude to the team for allowing him to honor his mother by displaying her surname on the door of the No.97 Chevrolet during the last two races.

My God, brother. This is terrible news. I’m so sorry. I just prayed for you and your family.
