There have been a series of rumors about a possible move of Verstappen to Mercedes in recent weeks. The turmoil at Red Bull, attributed to controversy surrounding the team principal, is pointed out as the cause. Verstappen recently denied the rumors about Mercedes, but has not yet confirmed or denied the existence of an exit clause in his contract.
According to speculations, Verstappen may have an exit clause in his contract. It is not uncommon for drivers to include such provision, as it allows them to leave the team at any time during the contract. However, the possibility of Verstappen having this clause is surprising. When asked about the clause, his teammate confirmed that he was not aware of it and emphasized Verstappen’s commitment to Red Bull.
🗣️ | 🇦🇺 Checo on recent rumors about Max’s contract exit clauses and the possibility of leaving Red Bull:
“I don’t know what clause Max has in his contract. I think it’s best to ask him. As far as I know, he has a contract and is fully committed to the team. The rest is not for me to say…”
On the other hand, Sergio Perez is in the last year of his contract with the Milton Keynes-based team. There are several possibilities regarding his replacement or not. The team has decided to wait until the summer break to make a decision about Perez’s future at Red Bull, so Verstappen’s contract is not a concern for Perez at the moment.
Red Bull is going through turbulence that was expected to be resolved by March. The controversy surrounding the team principal and the possible move of the team advisor to Mercedes has caused unrest within the team. When asked about the issue, Sergio Perez, Red Bull’s second driver, stated that a possible departure of Verstappen would have a major impact on the team.
The team is currently dealing with internal politics and a power struggle. The racing team has been trying to overcome challenges within the Austrian team for some time. Although nothing is set in stone at the moment, team principal Christian Horner is still facing difficulties as a female employee has filed a complaint with the FIA. Max Verstappen is undoubtedly a key factor in the team’s success, and his departure could lead to the team’s downfall.
