Sergio Perez sparks excitement with promising start for Cadillac at F1 pre-season test

Sergio Perez Delivers Optimistic Assessment After Cadillac’s F1 Debut Test Day

In a thrilling start to the Formula 1 pre-season testing, Sergio Perez has expressed a buoyant outlook on Cadillac’s inaugural day behind the wheel. The Mexican driver, who marked his birthday on the same day, reported that while the run was “a little bit too smoothly at the moment,” it was an overall positive experience for the American team at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya.

As Perez took to the track in Cadillac’s first-ever chassis, the excitement was palpable, especially after teammate Valtteri Bottas completed the morning session. The duo’s collective effort ensured the car was put through its paces, though the lap times left much to be desired. It’s important to note that in the world of shakedown tests, mere numbers on a board often fail to capture a team’s true potential.

Despite encountering some technical hiccups during the day, Perez remained optimistic. “It’s always challenging when there is a massive rule change,” he acknowledged. The primary goal? To log as many laps as possible. With a mix of anticipation and relief, he stated, “We are just getting some laps on the board, which was promising.”

Addressing the technical challenges faced, Perez remarked, “We had a lot of issues today, which is good. It’s our first day, so it’s been positive in that regard – you want all the problems to come now.” This mindset reflects a strategic approach that sees potential pitfalls as learning opportunities, emphasizing the importance of addressing them early in the testing phase.

As the team looks ahead, Perez highlighted the need to maximize their remaining time on the track. “Just trying to maximize everything,” he said, underlining the team’s focus on accumulating mileage. “Everything has been running a little bit too smoothly at the moment, just trying to get laps in which I think is going to be the priority going into the coming days. That will be the main thing.”

With the stakes high and the clock ticking, Cadillac is poised to embrace the challenges of F1 racing, and with Perez’s expert guidance, they are eager to turn their early experiences into a competitive advantage. As the pre-season unfolds, fans and experts alike will be watching closely to see how this ambitious entry into the world of motorsport continues to develop.
