Sergio Perez laments Adrian Newey’s Red Bull Exit: Catastrophic Impact Revealed

Sergio Perez Drops Bombshell: Adrian Newey’s Red Bull Exit Caused Chaos and Setbacks!

In a shocking revelation, former Red Bull driver Sergio Perez has pointed the finger at Adrian Newey’s departure as the catalyst for the team’s recent struggles. Despite Max Verstappen’s individual successes on the track, Red Bull Racing has faced a downward spiral in performance since Newey’s exit.

The iconic F1 designer, known for his instrumental role in Red Bull’s multiple World Championships, shifted his focus away from the F1 program to the RB17 hypercar and later announced his move to Aston Martin. This move coincided with Red Bull’s fall from grace, culminating in a third-place finish in the 2024 World Constructors’ Championship standings.

Perez didn’t hold back during his conversation with the Desde el Paddock podcast, highlighting the significant impact of Newey’s departure and the subsequent exit of sporting director Jonathan Wheatley. He emphasized, “When Adrian Newey left, I think that’s when a lot more problems started. Then Jonathan Wheatley left, who was a fundamental part of the team.”

Newey’s expertise in design and team management was unparalleled, with his meticulous approach to car elements such as aerodynamics, power unit, and bodywork setting Red Bull apart. The void left by Newey’s departure was undoubtedly felt within the team, as Perez acknowledged the role it played in their decline.

Despite the setbacks, Perez commended Verstappen’s exceptional talent and work ethic, acknowledging his teammate’s unwavering commitment and skill on the track. Reflecting on their past success, Perez remarked, “We had a great team. In the end, it slowly fell apart, but we really did have something special, during one of the most competitive eras in F1.”

As Red Bull Racing currently languishes in fourth place in the World Constructor Standings, trailing over 200 points behind the championship leaders McLaren, Perez’s revelations shed light on the internal turmoil that has plagued the once-dominant team. The fallout from Newey’s exit continues to reverberate through Red Bull, raising questions about their ability to reclaim their former glory in the fiercely competitive world of Formula 1.
