Sergio Perez’s weekend at the 2024 Brazilian Grand Prix was nothing short of a catastrophe, adding fuel to mounting doubts about his future at Red Bull. His performance at Interlagos only underscored a disappointing season that has placed him eighth in the driver’s standings with just 150 points—now a glaring reason why Red Bull has slipped to third in the Constructors’ Championship.
After the race, Perez spoke candidly about his struggles, admitting, “It was a disaster. We didn’t know until the last minute that we could change tires, so we started on very cold tires. As soon as the race began, I hit a wall of water, and the visibility was terrible. Then, during the red flag, we lost crucial positions. It was a total disaster.”
The Brazilian GP was marked by harsh weather and even tougher racing conditions, and Perez found himself on the losing end of several on-track battles, including intense skirmishes with Liam Lawson and Lewis Hamilton. “We came up to Liam, and there was some contact in Turn 1. I overshot Turn 4 and lost the position to Lewis. Nothing worked,” he admitted.
