Sergio Perez: The Podium Dream with Cadillac – A Bold F1 Comeback!

Get ready, Formula 1 fans! Sergio Perez is revving up for a sensational return to the F1 grid in the upcoming season, and he’s joining forces with none other than Cadillac! The Mexican driver, known for his podium prowess, is confident that Cadillac will grab a top-three finish “in the near future.” This is not just another comeback; it’s the dawn of a new era for the American racing titan, and Perez is determined to make history.

After a tumultuous year away from the sport, following his departure from Red Bull after a dismal 2024 season, Perez is back with a vengeance. He’s not just any driver; he boasts a track record of success, having stood on the podium with every team he’s raced for—except for McLaren. Now, as he aligns with Cadillac, he believes that the team is destined for greatness.

Teaming up with fellow veteran Valtteri Bottas, who also took a break from F1 in 2025, Perez and Bottas bring a staggering combined total of 527 race starts and 16 grand prix victories to the table. This duo is poised to shake up the competition!

Cadillac has made significant strides in its preparations for its debut season. The team recently passed crucial FIA chassis homologation tests, marking a pivotal step in their journey. Team principal Graeme Lowdon confirmed that the first two race chassis are on schedule, a promising sign as they gear up for battle. “The good news is it [the car] is coming along,” Lowdon stated, emphasizing the team’s commitment to excellence.

Having witnessed the action firsthand at Cadillac’s Silverstone factory and their Charlotte base, Perez is eager to get back into the driver’s seat. He will be taking his first laps in a Formula 1 car since the Abu Dhabi season finale last year, but this time, he’ll be behind the wheel of a sleek black Ferrari SF-23 during a two-day testing session at Imola. “I’m curious to find out how many laps my neck will do before it gets destroyed,” he joked, highlighting the physical demands of F1 racing.

While Perez acknowledges that Cadillac may face initial challenges upon entering the sport, he remains optimistic about their trajectory. “I think we’re going to start at the back, progressively move forward. But ultimately, that (the podium) is a target,” he declared, underscoring his unwavering belief in the team’s potential. “It doesn’t matter who gets there, as long as it’s Cadillac.”

Historically, new teams have struggled to find their footing, often plagued by financial issues, but Perez insists that Cadillac is here to make a significant impact. “This is a team that is coming for real and it’s coming to do things in the best way and to win,” he asserted. With a powerhouse like General Motors backing them, Cadillac is poised to challenge the status quo in the world of F1 racing.

As they prepare to join the grid, Cadillac is not just another team; it’s a symbol of American racing heritage, built on the vision of Michael Andretti. With a powerhouse lineup and cutting-edge technology, Cadillac aims to achieve what its predecessor Haas has yet to accomplish—a podium finish.

The stakes are high as Cadillac enters a new chapter in F1, bringing with it an exciting blend of experience and innovation. With the advent of smaller, lighter cars and a new engine formula, all teams, including Cadillac, are level on the starting grid. But will theory translate into reality? Only time will tell.

As the countdown to next season begins, the question on everyone’s lips is: Can Cadillac achieve the podium dream before Haas? With Perez at the wheel, anything is possible. Buckle up, F1 fans; this is sure to be a thrilling ride!
