João Ferreira faced strong opposition in the Baja Portalegre 500, but that didn’t stop him from coming out victorious in the biggest off-road race in the country. On board a MINI, the decisive point was his dominance in the last selective sector, winning with a 2m21.6s lead over the vice-world champion, Yazeed Al Rajhi (Overdrive Toyota).

The driver from Leiria spoke about the result to the official website of the race, not hiding his satisfaction – highlighting the circumstances in which the victory was achieved in terms of opposition and the rainy weather:

– It’s an incredible feeling. Before the race, we knew we would be competing against the current World champion [Nasser Al-Attiyah] and the vice-World champion. We gave our all in difficult conditions, with a lot of water and mud. Winning in Portalegre is always very special, especially in these conditions and with this competition.
