Lewis Hamilton made a high-level performance in the Mexican Grand Prix of Formula 1 to return to the podiums a week after the disappointing disqualification from the United States Grand Prix.

At the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez, the undercut to Carlos Sainz (Ferrari) in the early pit stops and the risky bet on medium tires after the red flag and subsequent overtaking of Charles Leclerc (Ferrari) were the key points of the result.

The Mercedes veteran stated in a statement that it is a particularly satisfying result: ‘It’s a great result considering we started from sixth, and an incredible day for the team. We attacked hard and I’m proud of the whole team for their work. It has been a tough few weeks for us, so it’s great to finally turn it around. The car felt much better in the race and the pace was strong. It was all about the balance of the car and managing the tires, and we managed to do that well’.

After a troubled start in Mexico and a podium finish, Hamilton praised that progress: ‘We really worked hard this weekend to improve the setup and get it right, and the result shows the hard work that everyone in the team did to achieve it. Now I can’t wait to get to Brazil and hopefully continue with the strong pace of the car’.
