In a breathtaking showdown that had fans on the edge of their seats, Sebastien Ogier clinched his ninth World Rally Championship (WRC) title in the stunning landscapes of Saudi Arabia! This victory not only solidifies Ogier’s legendary status in the sport but also marks a monumental milestone in his illustrious career. Meanwhile, Thierry Neuville stunned the competition by triumphing in the inaugural WRC Saudi Arabia, leading a spectacular one-two finish for Hyundai!

The day began with high stakes as the two title contenders, Ogier and Elfyn Evans, faced off in a gripping three-stage battle, each armed with just one spare tire. The tension was palpable as the opening test revealed a razor-thin margin, with Ogier and Evans separated by a mere tenth of a second! But it was on the penultimate stage, a grueling 33.28km test, where Ogier unleashed his prowess, taking control of the race and setting the stage for an epic finish.

Neuville, partnered with Martijn Wydaeghe, soared to the top of the Saudi leaderboard, navigating through a series of twists and turns that showcased their incredible teamwork and skill. However, drama unfolded for rivals Adrien Fourmaux and Alex Coria, who faced a one-minute penalty after arriving at a control point too early, plummeting them to fourth place. But they weren’t done yet; a fierce comeback saw them sprint back to claim second!

As the dust settled, Martins Sesks and Renars Francis, who had briefly held the lead, succumbed to an overly cautious first run, dropping them to second in the opening stage. Disaster struck in SS16 when they suffered two punctures, forcing them to retire before the final showdown.

Sami Pajari and Marko Salminen secured fourth place, while Takamoto Katsuta and Aaron Johnston experienced a dramatic roll in the penultimate stage yet managed to continue the fight. Meanwhile, Evans faced disappointment, finishing sixth overall and marking his fifth runner-up championship finish. Kalle Rovanperä concluded his WRC career with a seventh-place finish, while Gregoire Munster, Josh McErlean, and Oliver Solberg wrapped up the top ten.

With the roar of engines and the thrill of competition echoing through the air, Ogier’s triumph in Saudi Arabia is a testament to his relentless drive and determination. This historic victory not only cements his legacy but also leaves fans eagerly anticipating the future of the WRC.
