Formula 1 fans were treated to a blast from the past as Sebastian Vettel, a four-time F1 champion, paid homage to his former teammate Daniel Ricciardo for his incredible comeback with Red Bull Racing. In a nostalgic Instagram post, Vettel commemorated Ricciardo’s stellar victory at the chaotic Hungarian Grand Prix in 2014, showcasing his admiration for the Aussie star’s triumph.

The dynamic duo of Vettel and Ricciardo had once dominated the tracks together at Christian Horner’s F1 team in 2014 before Vettel made his move to Ferrari. Despite parting ways, Vettel’s respect and appreciation for Ricciardo’s talent have clearly stood the test of time.

The Hungarian Grand Prix in 2014 was a rollercoaster of emotions, with Ricciardo seizing the opportunity for glory after Vettel encountered misfortune during the race. Following a series of dramatic events including crashes and safety car interventions, Ricciardo, then 25 years old, showcased his prowess by overtaking top drivers like Lewis Hamilton and Fernando Alonso to claim his second career victory.

Vettel’s Instagram post encapsulated the bittersweet memories of that day, acknowledging his own setbacks during the race and praising Ricciardo for his well-deserved win. The post included vintage black and white images from the race day, adding a nostalgic touch to the heartfelt tribute.

Despite the passage of time and career developments for both Vettel and Ricciardo, the bond forged on the racetrack remains unbreakable. Ricciardo may have moved on from Red Bull Racing in 2024, but his legacy as a fan-favorite and skilled driver endures in the world of Formula 1, earning him respect from rivals and supporters alike.

As Vettel’s Instagram post resurfaces, it serves as a poignant reminder of the camaraderie and competitive spirit that define the world of Formula 1. The enduring friendship and mutual admiration between Vettel and Ricciardo continue to captivate fans and reignite memories of their glory days on the track.
