Seat has confirmed that the Tarraco will not have a successor and that the SUV will be discontinued, six years after its launch. The Martorell brand confirmed to “Autocar” that the first Seat model to be equipped with a plug-in hybrid powertrain will not have a second generation.
“The Seat Tarraco has been a success. But there will not be a successor. From mid-2024, we will be focused on the new Cupra Terramar, which will fill the space left by the discontinued Tarraco – its production will end soon,” Seat confirmed to the British publication.
The end of Seat’s SUV was already predictable, after the brand announced that it would renew the Ibiza, Arona, Ateca, and Leon, extending the lifecycle of these models until the end of the combustion engine era, without mentioning the Tarraco.
It is already known that the Cupra Terramar will arrive in 2025 and will continue to use combustion engines, being announced as the last model of the brand to do so, but it will also offer combined powertrains with electric machines, whether it be a 48V mild-hybrid or a plug-in hybrid.
