Sargeant responde a rumores sobre substituir Williams F1.

Logan Sargeant, from the United States, racing for Williams, was spotted on the grid of the Miami Grand Prix on May 4, 2024. Despite recent rumors that he could lose his spot in the Williams Formula 1 team before the end of the season, Sargeant claims to feel “comfortable.” The young driver has had a challenging start to his second season in F1, leading to speculation that he could be replaced by Mercedes protege Andrea Kimi Antonelli. It was revealed during the Miami weekend that a request was made to the FIA to waive the minimum age requirement for Antonelli to compete in F1. Although it is believed that the request came from Williams, Sargeant remains calm in the face of growing reports about his possible departure. He stated: “I’m not going to say anything” regarding internal discussions about his future.

Despite the distractions, Sargeant is excited for the upcoming Miami Grand Prix, which is the first of three home races for him. He believes he has made progress in the recent stages and felt particularly comfortable during the FP1 session this weekend. Sargeant said: “I feel like it’s been going relatively well in terms of pace since Australia.” Although he had a disappointing race in China, he believes he did a good job in qualifying in Miami. Sargeant is determined to find that extra tenth of a second and continue delivering his best performance.

The team boss, James Vowles, challenged Sargeant to reduce the gap to his teammate, Alex Albon. Despite not making it to Q2, Sargeant managed to reduce the gap to just one tenth in the standings. When asked if this had been his best weekend so far in 2024, Sargeant replied: “If I had put in a clean lap in the sprint qualifying yesterday like I could have, then yes. Because I should have made it to Q2 yesterday and I didn’t. Apart from that, yes, I feel like I’ve been driving well, and I think it was a good qualifying session. I will keep progressing tomorrow.”
