Logan Sargeant publicly criticized Marcus Ericsson for his remarks about the state of his relationship with Williams team principal James Vowles, labeling them as “completely false.”

Ericsson, speaking in Swedish on the Viaplay Formula 1 podcast, shared a story he heard from contacts in the United States, suggesting that the relationship between Vowles and Sargeant had deteriorated.

According to the translated podcast, Ericsson said, “I was also informed this weekend by some American acquaintances who know Sargeant, that he is not enjoying his time in that team. He finds it extremely difficult, and apparently, he and James Vowles no longer communicate with each other. They barely acknowledge one another. Their relationship is completely severed.”

When asked to confirm the validity of these claims before the Belgian Grand Prix, Sargeant dismissed them and criticized Ericsson’s comments.

“Marcus Ericsson has a habit of discussing others without ever having a conversation with me,” said Sargeant, who was pictured above during a track walk at Spa ahead of the Belgian Grand Prix. “So yeah, his words hold no weight. They are untrue.

“I just spoke with James 20 minutes ago. And most importantly, James and I both come here with the intention of doing what’s best for the team. We both work towards the same goal, and ultimately, what benefits the team benefits me. So it’s completely false.

“I have never spoken to Marcus Ericsson in my life, and I have no intention of doing so.”

Sargeant did mention that he had not yet had one-on-one discussions with Vowles in Belgium, but he expects to do so. He also stated that he will not let the speculation about his future affect his position within Williams.

“We had a group conversation earlier, but I will speak to him privately. However, I haven’t had the chance to do so yet.

“This situation has been ongoing for a while now, so it is what it is. As I always say, the most important thing is that we all work together towards the same goal. That will never change. And we all want what’s best for the entire team.”

Upon being informed of Sargeant’s comments, Ericsson responded by saying,
