Young rally sensation, Sami Pajari, faced a dramatic end to his day at the Acropolis Rally Greece as he was forced to retire due to a technical issue. The Finnish driver, who had been showcasing impressive performance, was running as high as second before encountering trouble on the road section between SS5 and SS6.
Pajari, driving his Toyota GR Yaris Rally1, had been in a fierce battle at the front, trailing the leader by a mere 0.7 seconds after the second stage. However, his fortunes took a turn as he slipped to fifth place after stage five and was ultimately sidelined by a significant oil loss.
Expressing his frustration, Pajari commented, “We have some issue. I think it’s just stages when it’s so rough… honestly I have no idea where this is coming, so we will recover the car back to service and we will see.” Despite the setback, Pajari acknowledged that such challenges are part of the rally experience, stating, “It [the rally] was going quite well, but OK, these things happen.”
