Sainz espera repetir estratégia vitoriosa do GP de Singapura em Mônaco.

Carlos Sainz Jr from Spain, currently driving for Ferrari, is adopting a strategy that has proven successful in the past, aiming to replicate his triumph at the Singapore Grand Prix in the upcoming Monaco Grand Prix of Formula 1. Sainz took advantage of the unexpected lack of competitiveness from Red Bull at the Marina Bay Street Circuit to secure the victory in 2023, becoming the only driver outside the Austrian team to achieve such feat. This season, he has already had success at the Australian Grand Prix and is now aiming for more victories in 2024, as both Ferrari and McLaren have made significant improvements to close the gap to Red Bull. The Monaco Grand Prix is expected to be a tight race. Sainz emphasizes the importance of starting a race weekend on a street circuit with confidence in the car from the beginning, aiming to repeat his success in Singapore. He understands the importance of starting off on the right foot and having a good feeling with the car during the first practice session, as well as performing well throughout the weekend. Sainz recognizes the significance of qualifying and acknowledges that winning on a street track requires careful preparation and a solid performance throughout the weekend. With this mindset, he is determined to have the best weekend possible and see where it will take him.

The unique characteristics of the Monaco track have led the Red Bull team to advise caution regarding their prospects, with advisor Helmut Marko labeling Ferrari as the favorite team. However, Sainz acknowledges that there may be several competitors at the top, but he warns that Ferrari’s weaknesses this season may be more evident in Monaco. “Honestly looking, I believe any of the top teams can win in Monaco,” said Sainz. “Monaco is such a special weekend, with such a unique track, that requires a strong warm-up lap and a clean qualifying lap to become the race winner. I think it will be a tight competition between Red Bull, McLaren, and us. We start this weekend on equal footing. It all comes down to which team can better adapt their car to the streets. Low speed has not been our strong point this year, so I am a bit more cautious in that aspect. Qualifying has also not been our strength, and we know how crucial it is in Monaco. That’s why I think it’s important to manage expectations, but that doesn’t mean we’re not aiming for a win. We are aiming for a win this weekend and will do everything in our power to stand out in the warm-up lap, the Q3 lap, and the race strategy.”

Sainz consistently scored in all eight races he competed in Monte Carlo, achieving second places in both 2021 and 2022. “Monaco is always special, regardless of the year or the moment. When it comes to Monaco, we all mark it as a significant race on the calendar,” he expressed. “I love racing here. I have good memories, as it was where I achieved my first podium with Ferrari in 2021 and came close to winning in 2022. But overall, I have a strong desire to compete here. It’s an open approach because it’s one of those circuits where any team or one of the top teams can come out victorious. Whoever performs well in qualifying has a chance to win.”
