Sainz espera acelerar discussões sobre seu futuro na Fórmula 1 em relação às conexões com a Mercedes.

Carlos Sainz Jr, who secured third place in the Japanese Grand Prix, expressed his desire to accelerate discussions about his future in Formula 1 in 2025. Recent rumors linked him to a vacant seat at Mercedes, leading him to reconsider his plans. Although Sainz initially wanted to renew his contract with Ferrari, his hopes were dashed when Lewis Hamilton joined the team. Now, Sainz acknowledges the need to step up negotiations and find the best options for his future.

While Sainz has been associated with a possible return to Red Bull, Sergio Perez is likely to secure an extension with the team. Additionally, Fernando Alonso has already signed a multi-year renewal with Aston Martin. Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff mentioned Sainz’s name as one of the credible options to replace Hamilton at Ferrari. When asked about his future before the Japanese Grand Prix, Sainz confirmed that he and his management team are in negotiations with several teams.

Sainz emphasized the importance of exploring realistic options and finding the best fit for his career. However, he did not provide any specific news or updates on his decision. He did, however, stress the need to expedite the process and reach a resolution as soon as possible. Sainz’s chances of securing a prominent place at Mercedes were strengthened by his impressive performance, which includes three podiums in three races.

According to reports from the Italian media, both Sainz and Mercedes are interested in forming a partnership that would see Sainz join George Russell at the team next season. Mercedes sees Sainz as the most suitable short-term option and is open to offering a one plus one contract. This arrangement would allow Mercedes to maintain flexibility in the driver market, especially if Max Verstappen becomes available from Red Bull. Additionally, it would provide an opportunity for Mercedes to train their protege, Andrea Kimi Antonelli, who currently competes in Formula 2.

However, it is also worth noting that Sainz may not be willing to accept the conditions proposed by Mercedes. According to reports, he wants a guaranteed two-season contract starting from 2025. Unless a compromise can be reached during negotiations, Sainz’s only remaining options would be Sauber, which will rebrand as Audi in 2026, or Williams.
