Sainz: Competing for my own satisfaction and I will continue moving forward.

Sainz: Competindo por minha própria satisfação e continuarei em frente.

However, Sainz expressed on Sunday that hard work pays off and life can be unpredictable. This statement came after the Ferrari driver emerged victorious in Melbourne just two weeks after undergoing an appendectomy surgery.

Sainz was unable to participate in the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix while recovering from the medical procedure. However, he made a triumphant return at Albert Park, securing his third career Formula 1 victory alongside teammate Charles Leclerc.

During the two-week recovery period, Sainz mainly rested in bed. Despite this, he surprisingly qualified in second place alongside Max Verstappen on Saturday.

Verstappen, the current F1 world champion, faced difficulties with the brakes, which ultimately led to his retirement. Taking advantage of this, Sainz overtook the Red Bull driver on the third lap.

He managed to withstand Leclerc’s overtaking attempts until the final lap, when George Russell’s crash triggered a virtual safety car, solidifying Sainz’s victory.

For Sainz, it was an extremely rewarding experience, especially considering he had been previously informed that he would lose his spot in the race to seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton in 2025.

“The series of events this year – from the start, to the podium in Bahrain, then the appendectomy surgery, my comeback and now the victory – has been a rollercoaster. However, I have enjoyed every moment. I am extremely happy,” Sainz shared with reporters.

He further expressed his pride in the team and his satisfaction in achieving a one-two result alongside Charles. Sainz emphasized that this victory is a testament to the rewards of hard work. He acknowledged the unpredictable nature of life.

While Sainz’s future in F1 remains uncertain, he believes that this victory will undoubtedly increase his chances of securing another opportunity.

“There’s no doubt it will have a positive impact. I still don’t have a contract for next year. Most people are aware of my abilities. I don’t race to prove my worth to team bosses. I race for personal fulfillment. That’s my mentality and it will remain so,” said Sainz.

In a recent press release, Ferrari expressed their satisfaction with his performance in the race. According to the team, they were pleased with how well they did throughout the weekend, from the first practice session to the final lap. They believe they executed a flawless race, with a well-planned strategy and impressive pit stops. The team congratulated everyone involved and expressed their desire to carry this success into the next race in Japan. Leclerc’s fastest lap contributed to Ferrari’s strong performance, and they now find themselves just four points behind Red Bull in both the drivers’ and constructors’ championships. Despite the success, Leclerc emphasized that there is still a lot of work to be done to consistently outperform Red Bull. They acknowledged the importance of seizing every opportunity to win races and are determined to continue improving the performance of their car.
