Ryan Blaney Seethes After Kyle Larson’s Shocking Race Blunder at WWTR

In a jaw-dropping moment during Sunday’s Cup Series showdown at World Wide Technology Raceway, Ryan Blaney found himself at the center of controversy after a stunning collision with Kyle Larson. As tensions flared on the track, Blaney, who was fiercely vying for a top-five finish, was left questioning, “What did I do to deserve it?” after Larson careened into him, leaving fans and analysts alike buzzing about the implications.

The drama unfolded towards the climax of Stage 2 when Larson, driving for Hendrick Motorsports, made a reckless move. In a bid to squeeze past Blaney’s No. 12 Team Penske Mustang, Larson cut sharply to the inside before sliding up the track, leading to a disastrous nudge that sent Blaney spinning. The impact was striking, but remarkably, Blaney managed to recover and finish the race in fourth position. However, the incident left him bewildered and seeking answers.

In a post-race interview, Blaney expressed his frustration, stating, “I just wanted to know what I did to deserve it. He (Larson) just said he made a mistake, you know, and that’s fine, make mistakes, but at the end of the day I still got turned. He came from all the way on the bottom of the racetrack and hit me in the left rear.” The Ohio native added, “I know he most likely didn’t mean to do it, but it happened anyway. And so that’s just one I got to remember.”

Despite the collision, Blaney remains in a solid position in the standings, currently sitting fifth with a 42-point safety net above the playoff cutoff line. With only one race left to secure an automatic ticket to the next round, the pressure is mounting.

On the other hand, Larson, who ended the race in a disappointing 12th place, took full responsibility for the mishap. In a candid reflection, he admitted to misjudging the situation, asserting, “I just said I messed up. I just misjudged it. Obviously, I’m not trying to ever wreck anybody on purpose, especially at the midway point of the race.” Larson detailed his intentions, explaining, “The lap before the contact I was able to get to his (Ryan Blaney’s) door and get him tight. Next time I was trying to do the same and wasn’t going to get there, so I was going to try and tuck back in line and just clipped him. I’m sure he should be upset.”

As the dust settles from this high-octane confrontation, both drivers are looking ahead to the next challenge. Denny Hamlin emerged victorious, marking his fifth win of the 2025 season and solidifying his spot in the Round of 12. Meanwhile, all eyes will be on Larson and Blaney as they prepare for the highly anticipated Bass Pro Shops Night Race at Bristol Motor Speedway on September 13.

Fans can expect another thrilling battle as the stakes rise, and the drama continues to unfold in the NASCAR Cup Series. Will Blaney carry the weight of this incident into his next race, or will Larson’s apology soften the tension? Only time will tell as these competitors gear up for a nail-biting showdown!
