Ryan Blaney Shuts Down Podcast Comeback: “I Just Don’t See Myself Doing That Every Week”

For years, NASCAR legend Dale Earnhardt Jr. has set the gold standard for drivers-turned-media moguls. With his wildly successful Dirty Mo Media empire, the two-time Daytona 500 winner has built a $300 million brand, producing The Dale Jr. Download and redefining the way fans engage with the sport.

But while many have followed in Earnhardt’s footsteps, Ryan Blaney isn’t one of them. Despite having once hosted the fan-favorite “Glass Case of Emotion” podcast, the 2023 NASCAR Cup Series champion has no interest in launching a full-time media career. And now, for the first time, he’s opened up on why he walked away from podcasting for good.

Blaney Loved Podcasting—But That Chapter Is Closed

Before the pandemic, Blaney’s “Glass Case of Emotion” was one of the most entertaining and engaging podcasts in NASCAR. Alongside co-hosts Kim Coon and Chuck Bush, he built a dedicated fanbase, offering hilarious off-track stories and raw insights into the NASCAR world.

But when the pandemic forced the show to transition to remote recordings, things started falling apart. The chemistry suffered, schedules became chaotic, and eventually, Blaney and his co-hosts moved on.

Now, in a special edition of Beating and Banging, Blaney made it clear: “Glass Case” isn’t coming back.

“No, I personally don’t think so. ‘Glass Case’ was a blast for the three or four years we did it, and people really liked it. It was hard to see it go, but it just got tough for me, Kim, and Chuck to get everything going.”

Guest Appearances? Yes. Full-Time Podcasting? No Chance.

While Blaney enjoys dropping in as a guest, he has no plans to host a weekly podcast. His reason? Time is precious, and he’d rather focus on racing.

“I enjoy doing guest spots. I think that’s where I want to live. I love going to Dale’s show. I had a blast with Freddy, Carson, and Tommy, but I just don’t see me doing that every week.”

Instead, Blaney prefers making rare, special appearances—where he feels he can truly open up and give fans something memorable.

“When I do them a handful of times a year, it makes them even more special.”

Blaney Has Bigger Goals—Another NASCAR Cup Title

Let’s be real—Blaney isn’t avoiding podcasting because he doesn’t enjoy it. He’s avoiding it because he has bigger things to accomplish on the track.

After clinching the 2023 NASCAR Cup Series title and finishing runner-up to Joey Logano in 2024, Blaney has unfinished business. His jaw-dropping performance at the Clash at Bowman Gray Stadium proved he’s locked in for 2025. Starting dead last (P23), he carved his way through the field to finish second, nearly stealing the win from Chase Elliott.

With another championship on his mind, Blaney is all-in on racing—and he’s not letting anything, not even a fan-favorite podcast, distract him from that goal.

So while Dale Jr. continues to dominate the media world, Blaney has no regrets leaving it behind. His legacy won’t be built in a studio—it’ll be made on the track, chasing history.
