Russell suggests problem with Mercedes car in the Miami Grand Prix race

Russell sugere problema com carro da Mercedes na corrida do Grande Prêmio de Miami

George Russell, British driver of the Mercedes AMG in Formula 1, expressed his concerns about the performance of his car during the Miami Grand Prix. Despite qualifying ahead of his teammate Lewis Hamilton, Russell finished in eighth place in the race. He felt that something was wrong with his car, lacking grip and speed throughout the event. Even with the intervention of the Safety Car closing the gaps between cars, Russell couldn’t challenge Yuki Tsunoda for seventh place in the final laps. He plans to investigate the issue further to understand what went wrong.

Russell attributed his difficulties to the inconsistent performance of the updated Mercedes W15. He described the past few weeks as a series of ups and downs for the team. On good days, they manage to get fifth place, but on bad days, like this one, they settle for eighth. Although Mercedes introduced a small update to the floor, Russell admitted that it won’t immediately turn them into race winners. However, he mentioned that they have more developments planned for the future.

Recognizing their current position, Russell believes that Mercedes is currently the fourth fastest team in Formula 1. He emphasized the importance of accepting the reality reflected in lap times and championship standings. He sees the fight for positions between fifth and eighth place as a consistent pattern week after week. Russell was inspired by McLaren’s recent victory, highlighting their turnaround from qualifying in 17th and 18th places last year in Miami. He believes their success demonstrates what is possible when things are done correctly. However, he emphasized the need for Mercedes to make quick changes to improve their performance.
