Ross Chastain is a man on a mission. After a gut-wrenching 2024 season that saw him miss the NASCAR Cup Series playoffs while his teammate slipped in with a single win, the Trackhouse Racing star is channeling that heartbreak into an all-out push for redemption in 2025.
The Florida native, known for his aggressive racing style and never-back-down attitude, admitted that failing to qualify for the postseason last year was a painful experience. The absence of playoff windshield banners and stickers on his No. 1 car was a constant, stinging reminder of what he had lost. And for Chastain, that feeling was unbearable.
“When the 1 team, something as simple as the windshield banners and the playoffs stickers aren’t on the car, it was terrible,” Chastain confessed. “I don’t ever want to feel that again, and I’ve worked really hard since then to not ever let that happen again.”
A Season of Frustration, A Win Too Late
Chastain’s sophomore season with Trackhouse in 2023 wasn’t as electrifying as his breakout 2022 campaign, but expectations were still sky-high heading into 2024. Yet, despite strong performances, he failed to capture a single win during the regular season—a critical misstep that ultimately cost him a playoff berth.
Adding insult to injury, his Trackhouse Racing teammate managed to sneak into the top 16 with a lone victory at Atlanta, leaving Chastain on the outside looking in. Though he finally broke through with a win at Kansas in the latter part of the season, it was too little, too late.
The bitter taste of missing the postseason is something he refuses to experience again.
2025: A New Opportunity, A Renewed Drive
As Chastain gears up for the 2025 campaign, he’s focusing on the fresh opportunities ahead. With a strong offseason push and key investments in Trackhouse Racing’s infrastructure, he’s determined to ensure history doesn’t repeat itself.
“When we’re on the pre-race stage, and we walk out, it’s the first time that the season’s starting,” Chastain said. “So much opportunity is right there in front of me, and I get to try to take it.”
And it’s not just talk. Trackhouse Racing, spearheaded by team owner Justin Marks, has doubled down on its commitment to winning. The team has made strategic hires, bringing in top-tier talent to sharpen its competitive edge. Chastain believes this renewed investment in personnel and resources will be the key to success.
“What Justin wants us to do is win,” Chastain emphasized. “I know everybody says that, and it’s easy to say it, but it’s not as simple as just putting a part on the car. It’s about investing in the right people, investing in the right tools for the people to use. And those people making the right decisions—or the best decisions they can make—are going to be crucial.”
Can Chastain and Trackhouse Deliver?
Chastain’s hunger is undeniable, and with Trackhouse Racing’s continued evolution, there’s plenty of reason for optimism. But can he translate that fire into wins and secure his spot in the playoffs this time around?
If his relentless drive and Trackhouse’s offseason moves are any indication, Chastain won’t settle for just making the playoffs—he wants to be a legitimate championship contender.
One thing is for certain: Ross Chastain has unfinished business in 2025. And he’s ready to fight for it.
