In a jaw-dropping turn of events at the Coca-Cola 600, Ross Chastain made history in NASCAR’s 2025 edition by storming from the back of the pack to claim victory in a backup car. The unprecedented feat saw Chastain overtaking William Byron in the final laps, leaving the Hendrick Motorsports driver to settle for a hard-fought second place despite an impressive performance throughout the race. Chase Briscoe secured a commendable third-place finish after starting from pole position and leading the charge for Toyota. Meanwhile, Brad Keselowski clinched the fourth spot as the top performer for Ford, with Chase Elliott following closely behind in fifth place.

The triumph marked Chastain’s sixth career win and the first of the 2025 season, also signifying Trackhouse Racing’s inaugural victory of the year. However, the race was not without its share of setbacks, as Denny Hamlin, who crossed the finish line in 16th place, was compelled to pit from third position in the closing stages due to an issue with refueling the car. A total of eight drivers failed to complete the grueling race, including Kyle Larson, who faced early exits in both the Indy 500 and the Coca-Cola 600 due to accidents. Additionally, racing legend Jimmie Johnson, competing in his 700th career start, endured a challenging outing and finished in the 40th position after an early crash.

The intense competition and unexpected turns kept fans on the edge of their seats throughout the 600-mile event, showcasing the resilience and skill of the drivers in the NASCAR circuit. Chastain’s remarkable comeback from the rear of the field to secure victory will undoubtedly go down in history as one of the most memorable moments in NASCAR’s prestigious Coca-Cola 600.
