Ross Chastain describes Shane van Gisbergen as a “beast” when it comes to getting ready for NASCAR races.

Shane van Gisbergen is poised to make a comeback in Chicago with a double duty. The talented racer will be returning to the track that changed his career forever this week. He will be participating in the Chicago Street Race for the second time and is expected to be the top contender. SVG made a name for himself in NASCAR when he emerged victorious in the Inaugural Cup race at the Chicago track during his NASCAR debut with Trackhosue Racing last season.

This victory instantly propelled the three-time Supercars champion to stardom in the United States and influenced his decision to leave his career in Australia behind and move to the US to pursue full-time racing in NASCAR. Currently, Shane van Gisbergen is competing for the championship in the Xfinity Series with Kaulig Racing as a loan driver from Trackhouse. Additionally, he has a busy schedule with numerous part-time Cup race entries.

SVG’s teammate, the leading driver of Trackhouse Racing, emphasized the Kiwi’s exceptional dedication to race preparations and acknowledged his leadership for the team leading up to the Chicago race. He also highlighted SVG’s remarkable skills on road courses, citing his two Xfinity wins this year.

“He’s incredibly meticulous when it comes to preparation. He’s really taking the lead for us in the simulator, ensuring that everything is set up the way he envisions it… He’s an absolute beast on road courses, as we’ve witnessed with his two Xfinity wins already this season. He’s just that good,” Ross Chastain stated via Speedway Media.

During a media interview prior to the Chicago race, the Kiwi driver emphasized his main goal of securing a race win on the oval, which is where NASCAR races the most. All three of his race wins in the sport have come on road courses, which naturally suit his abilities.

With SVG in their garage, Trackhouse will be the team to watch out for in Chicago. Chastain and his teammate Daniel Suarez have already proven themselves as winners on road courses, and with the assistance of the defending race champion, they have the potential to achieve an impressive result.
