Ross Brawn backs Lewis Hamilton amid Ferrari struggles: is F1 2026 the turning point?

Unraveling the Hamilton Dilemma: Ross Brawn Speaks Out Amidst Ferrari Turmoil

In a dramatic twist of fate, Ross Brawn, the iconic mastermind behind Ferrari’s golden era, has broken his silence on the beleaguered Lewis Hamilton. As the seven-time world champion grapples with a dismal debut season at Ferrari, Brawn’s hopeful assertions could hold the key to Hamilton’s revival. But with the clock ticking towards the pivotal F1 2026 regulations, the stakes have never been higher.

Hamilton’s transition from Mercedes to Ferrari has been nothing short of catastrophic. The 40-year-old racing legend is still chasing his elusive first podium finish, and his frustrations hit rock bottom at the recent Las Vegas Grand Prix. In a historic low, Hamilton became the first Ferrari driver since Giancarlo Fisichella in 2009 to qualify dead last based purely on pace. This shocking performance comes on the heels of Ferrari chairman John Elkann’s blunt admonition, urging both Hamilton and teammate Charles Leclerc to “talk less” after a disappointing showing in Brazil.

Analyzing the fallout from the Las Vegas GP, the atmosphere is tense. As fans and critics dissect Hamilton’s struggles, Brawn, who once orchestrated Michael Schumacher’s dominance, remains steadfast in his belief that Hamilton possesses the resilience to bounce back. He stated confidently, “Lewis is a pretty determined character and has shown resilience in the past, so there’s no reason why he won’t [deliver]. I just hope that Ferrari get it right with the new rules.”

The upcoming 2026 regulations promise to overhaul Formula 1 with a groundbreaking shift towards 50% electrification and active aerodynamics. Speculation is rife that Hamilton’s former team, Mercedes, is already ahead of the pack in preparing for these changes. Meanwhile, Ferrari is gearing up to unveil its ambitious Project 678, which reportedly includes a revolutionary intake system and a switch to pushrod suspension for enhanced performance.

However, Hamilton’s recent comments have cast a shadow of doubt over Ferrari’s future. Following the Las Vegas debacle, he candidly expressed his dismay, saying, “It’s a terrible result. There is nothing positive to take from today. I’m eager for it to end. I’m looking forward to it ending. I’m not looking forward to the next one.” When pressed, he clarified that his concerns extended beyond the next race in Qatar, hinting at a bleak outlook for the upcoming season.

As the F1 world holds its breath, the question remains: can Hamilton rise from the ashes of his current plight? With Brawn’s faith in his character and the impending overhaul of regulations, the road ahead is fraught with uncertainty. But one thing is clear: the pressure is mounting on Hamilton and Ferrari to deliver, and fans are eagerly waiting to see if they can turn the tide.
