Rookie Sensation Finn Gehrsitz Dominates, Secures Historic Lexus Pole at Spa-Francorchamps

Young talent Finn Gehrsitz shocks the motorsport world by claiming the pole position for the LMGT3 category at the prestigious FIA World Endurance Championship’s 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps. At just 20 years old and a rookie in the FIA WEC season, Gehrsitz outperformed experienced drivers to secure the top spot for Akkodis ASP’s #78 Lexus RC F, making history in the championship.

During the intense qualifying session, Gehrsitz displayed remarkable skill and determination, leading the pack and setting a blistering pace that left his competitors in the dust. The battle for pole position was fierce, with drivers pushing themselves to the limit to earn a chance at the front of the grid.

The competition in the LMGT3 category was fierce, with 17 cars separated by less than two seconds and the top 11 cars within just one second of each other. Manufacturers like Aston Martin, Ford, and Ferrari showcased their strength, with multiple cars making it to the Q2/Hyperpole session.

Gehrsitz’s impressive lap time of 2:17.732 in the #78 Lexus put him ahead of the Proton Competition’s Ford Mustang driven by Ben Tuck, who secured the second spot on the grid. Proton’s Giammarco Levorato also delivered a stellar performance, placing the team’s second Mustang in third position.

Other notable qualifiers included Zach Rubichon in the Heart of Racing Aston Martin, Francesco Castellacci in the AF Corse Ferrari, and Eduardo Barrichello, son of F1 legend Rubens Barrichello, in the Racing Spirit of LeMan’s Aston Martin.

The grid for the LMGT3 category is stacked with talent and promises an exhilarating race at Spa-Francorchamps. With drivers like Valentino Rossi and a mix of seasoned veterans and up-and-coming stars, the competition is set to be fierce from start to finish.

As the countdown to the 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps begins, all eyes are on Finn Gehrsitz and the rest of the field as they prepare to battle it out on one of the most challenging circuits in the world. Stay tuned for what is sure to be a thrilling and action-packed endurance race.
