The end of Romain Grosjean’s journey in Formula 1 ended abruptly with the strong accident at the 2020 Bahrain GP, in which he suffered severe burns in the fire after crashing into the barriers. At the time, it was already known that he would leave the scene at the end of that season, but he still had two more rounds to compete in.
After this premature farewell, Mercedes offered the driver a test in one of their cars and even went as far as molding the seat. However, until today it has not materialized, largely due to the commitments that the driver now has in other competitions.
Nevertheless, Grosjean assured GP Racing that he still wants to do that test: ‘Yes, absolutely. We haven’t found the time yet – and yes, it’s all my fault. However, it’s not easy. I look at 30 race weekends a year. You complain about 24 in F1 and I have 18 in IndyCar, seven in endurance racing, and five in F1 with Canal+. So, it’s not easy to add a test.’
