Romain Grosjean Shocks Racing World: Splits from Lamborghini as IMSA Journey Ends!

Romain Grosjean: A Shocking Split from Lamborghini Marks the End of a Thrilling Chapter!

In a stunning revelation that has sent shockwaves through the motorsport community, Romain Grosjean has officially severed ties with Lamborghini after a three-year partnership that transformed his racing career. The French racing star, who made waves in the IMSA SportsCar Championship, first teamed up with the iconic Italian brand in 2023, showcasing his skills behind the wheel of the formidable Huracan GT3 Evo2.

Grosjean’s entry into the Lamborghini family was nothing short of electrifying. He made his debut at the prestigious Daytona 24 Hours and followed it up with a thrilling performance at the Sebring 12 Hours. His contributions were pivotal, as he played a key role in the development of the SC63 Hypercar, which is set to dominate not only the World Endurance Championship but also the IMSA enduros in 2024. This partnership culminated in a commendable fourth-place finish at the legendary Petit Le Mans last month, solidifying Grosjean’s status as a formidable force on the track.

The excitement didn’t stop there! Grosjean was also part of Lamborghini’s ambitious expanded lineup for the illustrious Le Mans 24 Hours in 2024, where he, alongside teammates Andrea Caldarelli and Matteo Cairoli, fought valiantly to secure a 13th place finish. However, the tides have turned, and the motorsport world is abuzz with the news of his departure, coinciding with Lamborghini’s strategic shift away from its LMDh program.

In a bold move, Lamborghini has announced it will pause its LMDh initiative and redirect its focus to the innovative Temerario GT3, set to debut in 2026. This decision comes on the heels of Lamborghini’s exit from the World Endurance Championship, where they participated in just one season, a departure triggered by new regulations mandating each manufacturer to field two cars in the Hypercar class.

Reflecting on their thrilling journey together, Lamborghini issued a heartfelt statement: “From his first laps in Almeria in 2023, when he officially drove the Lamborghini SC63 for the first time, to the legendary 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2024, the journey has been filled with emotions and milestones. It continued in the 2025 IMSA season, culminating at Road Atlanta, where the team earned a well-deserved fourth place — a testament to their resilience, growth, and determination. But now it’s time to say goodbye… Thank you, Romain, for the passion, talent, and commitment you brought to the track with us. See you on the asphalt!”

As the dust settles on this unexpected split, the motorsport community is left wondering: What’s next for Romain Grosjean? Since his departure from Formula 1 at the end of 2020, he has had a rollercoaster journey through IndyCar, racing for various teams before shifting his focus to sports car racing this year after losing his seat at Juncos Hollinger Racing. His next move remains shrouded in mystery, igniting speculation and excitement among fans and experts alike.

Stay tuned as we follow Grosjean’s journey to see where this talented driver will land next! The racing world is watching, and one thing is for sure: this isn’t the last we’ll hear from Romain Grosjean.
