Robert Wickens: The Unstoppable Comeback to Racing Glory

In a heart-stopping crash at Pocono Raceway, Robert Wickens faced unimaginable injuries, including spinal fractures, leg fractures, and fractures to hands and ribs, during his rookie NTT IndyCar Series season in 2018. But Wickens, known for his unwavering determination and exceptional talent, refused to let this tragedy define him. After a grueling period of rehabilitation, Wickens is now making a triumphant return to the racing scene.

The Canadian racer is set to compete in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, driving DXDT Racing’s Chevrolet Corvette Z06 GT3.R in the GTD class, starting at the Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach. Wickens’ journey back to the track is a testament to his resilience and passion for the sport.

Having always been a racing enthusiast since a young age, Wickens’ love for speed and competition was evident early on. From playing with toy cars at the age of two to racing go-karts at just six years old, Wickens’ racing career has been a lifelong pursuit fueled by his unwavering dedication and hard work.

Despite facing setbacks, such as transitioning from open-wheel racing to the DTM series, Wickens’ determination never wavered. His switch to the NTT IndyCar Series in 2018 saw him achieve remarkable success, including taking four podiums before the life-altering crash at Pocono.

Throughout his road to recovery, Wickens’ commitment to his rehabilitation was unparalleled. Refusing to settle for anything less than his best, Wickens pushed himself to the limit, determined to defy the odds and return to the track.
