Riley Herbst: Navigating the Intense World of NASCAR Cup Series

Joining the ranks of 23XI Racing for the 2025 NASCAR Cup Series season, Riley Herbst has been using the first ten races of the year to acclimate himself to the intensity of the competition. As he gears up for the upcoming AdventHealth 400 at Kansas Speedway, Herbst reflects on his rookie season in NASCAR’s top tier.

In a candid interview, Herbst praises 23XI Racing, describing it as exceeding his expectations. He commends the team for its excellence and the support he receives, emphasizing the invaluable experience of being part of such a prestigious organization.

Working alongside seasoned Cup teammates Bubba Wallace and Tyler Reddick, Herbst acknowledges the mentorship and camaraderie within the team. He highlights the collaborative spirit of “forward together,” emphasizing the mutual assistance and knowledge-sharing among the drivers.

Despite currently ranking 33rd in points after ten races, Herbst remains optimistic about his progress. He acknowledges the steep learning curve of the Cup Series, emphasizing the fierce competition and the constant battle for position on the track. Herbst sees each race as an opportunity to learn and improve, aiming to capitalize on every experience to enhance his performance.

The young driver acknowledges the challenges of finding a competitive edge in such a cutthroat environment. He underscores the relentless pursuit of speed and performance, noting the meticulous attention to detail required to stay ahead in the highly competitive field.

Reflecting on his journey in the Cup Series, Herbst compares it to being thrown into the deep end of a swimming pool, where one must quickly adapt and learn to navigate the challenges. Grateful for the support of his team and mentors like Denny Hamlin, Herbst expresses his commitment to continuous improvement and growth in his racing career.

Looking ahead, Herbst’s primary objective for the season is to gain experience and complete races to further his learning curve. He echoes the advice of Kevin Harvick on the importance of finishing races to enhance one’s skills and knowledge in the sport.

With aspirations of winning Rookie of the Year and securing top-10 finishes, Herbst remains focused on his development and progression in the Cup Series. He acknowledges the arduous path ahead but embraces the journey with enthusiasm and determination to succeed in the competitive world of NASCAR.

As Herbst continues to navigate the challenges of the NASCAR Cup Series, his dedication and perseverance serve as a testament to his ambition and drive to excel in one of the most demanding racing circuits in the world.
