Ricciardo rejeita sugestão de Marko de que Lawson poderia substituí-lo na RB F1.

Daniel Ricciardo dismisses the idea that Liam Lawson could replace him at the RB Formula 1 team in 2025, stating that it will not affect his plans. The Red Bull shareholders have expressed their desire to bring a young driver to their secondary team, but Ricciardo remains calm. Despite his difficulties this season, Ricciardo believes that on-track performance is the most important factor for his future in the sport. He acknowledges the need for consistent results and is determined to make the most of his opportunities before the summer break. Ricciardo is not affected by the comments made by Red Bull advisor Helmut Marko and is focused on his own goals.

Ricciardo also refutes any concerns about Lawson’s upcoming test in Imola, in a previous Formula 1 vehicle, which could indicate Red Bull’s intention to switch drivers during the season. The eight-time Formula 1 Grand Prix winner acknowledges that a strong performance before the summer break could instantly change the narrative around his campaign.

“I believe this has been planned for some time, but regardless, as you get older, you learn to control the things you can control,” he said. “If Liam has an exceptional test, great for him. I have no control over that, and certainly do not wish anything bad for him.”

“Currently, I am in the race seat, so I must do everything in my power to control the things that are within my control. If I excel here, if I excel in Silverstone, the narrative can change. I have to take responsibility for that and focus on what I can do.”

“I’m sure Helmut smiled when I finished fifth in Montreal. If I can do that a few more times, I’m sure I’ll keep him smiling. Performance is still crucial, so I’ll keep focused on that.”

The Red Bull team principal, Christian Horner, was the one who supported Ricciardo’s return, and the Red Bull driver clarified that he was not informed that his position is at risk.

When asked if Horner had warned him about the possibility of losing his seat to Lawson, Ricciardo replied: “No, I haven’t heard anything. There has been no pressure or ultimatums.”

“But I’ve been in the sport for a long time and I know that if I consistently don’t perform well, someone will eventually say, ‘Hey, man, improve or else…’ But I haven’t experienced that yet.”

“However, I’m aware that having a good race every now and then is not enough, and it’s not where I want to be. I don’t want to have occasional highs and numerous lows.”

“I’ve received great support from Christian and Laurent, as well as the whole team. They’re doing their best, but ultimately, it’s me who’s in the car, and I have to push a little harder.”
